Building Relationship with Muffles Junior College
CMHE Executive Director Dr. Julia Cavallo traveled to Belize to visit Muffles Junior College (MJC) to continue working toward a Covenant with MJC. Dean Adrian Leiva and Board Chair Luis Gutierrez organized a meeting with the MJC Board to begin building a strong relationship with CMHE. The group reviewed a draft covenant and discussed practical elements of implementation. Julia shared the newly revised CMHE website and highlighted the mission integration resources. Julia was accompanied by Lisa Griffith, RSM, not only in her capacity as a CMHE Board member but also to lend support because of her existing relationship with the MJC board chair, colleagues at Muffles College High School, and the Sisters of Mercy of Belize. Additionally, Institute Minister Julie Matthews, RSM, participated in the gathering and discussion. CMHE and Muffles Junior College agreed to a goal of signing the Covenant by the end of this calendar year and in anticipation of joining our colleges/universities in the transition to the Ministerial Public Juridic Person.
The Sisters of Mercy of Belize expressed sincere gratitude for this opportunity and were heartened to know that their educational ministries will continue serving the people of Belize in our Catholic, Mercy tradition.
