CMHE remembers Moya Dittmeier

With great sadness we share the passing of our retired executive director, Dr. Moya Dittmeier. Moya served the Conference for Mercy Higher Education from 2008 until 2021. She built the organization to be well positioned to support our 17 colleges and universities to evolve their Mercy, Catholic identity for years to come.

Current executive director Dr. Julia Cavallo commented, “Moya’s mentorship enabled me to transition into this leadership role without interruption. She was smart, graceful and full of laughter. Her leadership over her many years with CMHE put me in a good position to take the baton and continue growing the organization into the future. She was a great woman of Mercy and I’m grateful to have known her.”

CMHE Board Chair Sister Jane Gerety, RSM, said, “Moya’s visionary leadership built the Conference for Mercy Higher Education to be recognized among peers as a leader in strengthening our charism. Her tireless work to develop the Mercy Higher Education Covenant left a legacy that enables the Sisters of Mercy to continue its relationship with our 17 Mercy colleges and universities in an authentic, practical, and empowering way to continue sustaining and evolving Mercy well into the future. We will miss her and pray in gratitude for her and for a sense of God’s presence for her grieving family.”

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the Mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
