CMHE Welcomes New Mission Specialist

Caitlin Cipolla-McCulloch, Ph.D., joined the CMHE staff as Mission Specialist at the end
of September. She earned her doctorate in theology with a certificate in Marian studies from the University of Dayton. Dr. Cipolla-McCulloch brings university, parish, and social service ministry experiences to the position. She has a passion for support of individuals through mentorship, and also values an ability to provide support to institutions through sponsorship. In addition to her stateside work, Caitlin was privileged to spend a year doing justice advocacy and pastoral ministry in Northern Peru alongside mountain farmers. She is a Lay Marianist who currently lives in Southwest Ohio.

Caitlin has published variously in The Conversation, America Magazine, and in the
College Theology Society Annual Volume, Vulnerability and Flourishing. Her areas of research include Mariology, Latin American studies, studies of charisms, cultic practice, popular devotion, and praxis. She has presented locally, nationally, and internationally at gatherings of the Marianist Family in Dayton, Ohio at the American Academy of Religion and College Theology Society, and for the Catholic Pontifical University of Valparaiso, Chile and the Pontifical Academy of Mary in Rome, Italy.

In her free time, Caitlin enjoys cycling, time in nature, quality time with friends, and
bonfires. Her embrace of hospitality is a vital aspect of how she embodies her Catholic and Marianist spirituality. She is a proud cat mom to two sphynx, Theo and Zahra who might make occasional appearances on Zoom. Caitlin is thrilled to be among members of the Mercy charism and community who are already inspiring her through their presence to and service of God and God’s people.
