The Sisters of Mercy of the Americas are an international community of Roman Catholic women who dedicate their lives to the Gospel of Jesus and take vows of poverty, chastity, obedience and service. Inspired by the life of Jesus and by founder Catherine McAuley, Sisters of Mercy envision a just world for people who are poor, sick and uneducated. Sisters of Mercy commit their lives to God and their resources to serve, advocate and pray for those in need around the world.

Mercy International Association

Mercy International Association (MIA) is the organization of the leaders of Mercy Congregations, Institutes, and Federations throughout the world. It was founded to serve the Sisters of Mercy, their associates, and colleagues in ministry. The Association seeks to foster unity of mind and heart among its members, to increase awareness and experience of their global independence, and to facilitate collaboration of members to meet the needs of today and to work for justice.

Mercy Global Action (MGA), a ministry of Mercy International Association, is committed to addressing two theme areas of injustice: the displacement of Persons and degradation of Earth. The office for Mercy Global Action is located at the United Nations in New York.

Mercy Volunteer Corps

Mercy Volunteer Corps

Mercy Volunteer Corps (MVC) was founded in 1978 by the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas. MVC invites women and men to volunteer for a year of service with people who are economically poor and marginalized both in the United States and South America. Volunteers commit to compassionate service, a simple lifestyle in community, and spiritual growth.

Mercy Education System

Mercy Education System

Mercy Education System of the Americas (MESA) is an international Mercy education system for primary and secondary schools organized under the Sisters of Mercy. MESA was formally established to ensure Mercy sponsored, cosponsored, and affiliated education ministries are identified within the mission of the Catholic Church and are faithful to the charism, mission and core values of the Sisters of Mercy.

MAST JOURNAL

MAST JOURNAL

The MAST Journal is published three times a year by the Mercy Association in Scripture and Theology. MAST promotes studies and research in Scripture, Theology, Spirituality, Church and congregational history and themes, the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy Direction Statement including those issues that have been named as “critical concerns,” and topics related to ministries supported or sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy.

Mercy Heritage Center was created in 2011 to house the historic records and artifacts from Sisters of Mercy archives across the United States. As the central archives for the Sisters of Mercy, Mercy Heritage Center preserves and relates the story of the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas.

MERCY RETREAT CENTERS

The Sisters of Mercy sponsor retreat and spiritual centers across the United States and in some Central American countries.  These places of quiet and prayer offer space and the opportunity to withdraw from the busyness of life to reflect on and deepen one’s personal relationship with God. Many are located in rural or pastoral settings where nature can be enjoyed in any season.

Mercy Investment Services, the asset management program for the endowment, operating, and other funds of the Sisters of Mercy and Mercy ministries, works for systemic change in the areas of non-violence, racism, environment, concern for women, and immigration through socially responsible investing.
